The grand building to the right, the Police Court, was built in 1870. It was demolished in 1977 - today the site is occupied today by Hong Lim Complex. To the right is Hong Lim Green, a plot of land named after Cheong Hong Lim, who in 1876 donated $3,000 to facilitate the conversion of the space into a public garden. The octagonal pavilion belongs to the Straits Chinese Recreation Club, which was formed in 1885. This was replaced with a new clubhouse in 1914.

All our reproduction photographs are double matted (unless otherwise stated) and ready for framing.
